Thinking about dog adoption in Dubai? Or considering opening your home to a furry friend on a temporary basis? Now might be a good time to do so.
Local dog charity K9 Friends is at capacity with canines looking for permanent or temporary homes. With the kennels in Dubai Investment Park full, the organisation has 142 dogs on its waiting list, more than it’s had in 34 years.
K9 Friends was set up in 1989, hoping to rescue and rehome abandoned dogs in the UAE. A volunteer-run organisation, K9 Friends’ shelter homes 125 dogs and 30 puppies.
For those considering adoption, K9 Friends hosts adoption days so you can meet potential pups. If you cannot attend one of these, you can make an appointment from Monday to Saturday between 9am and 1pm to see the dogs and talk through the process.
Dog adoption in Dubai: Costs of adopting with K9 Friends

- Dhs1,750 for a mixed-breed puppy
- Dhs2,250 for a pure-breed dog

Before you adopt, your dog will be neutered, microchipped, receive their initial vaccinations, and have a flea and deworming treatment.
