New speed limits announced on two major Dubai roads

Changes will come into effect on September 30

The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced an increase of the maximum speed limits on for sections of Al Amardi Street and Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan Al Nahyan Street, effective September 30.

This decision comes as part of ongoing efforts to improve traffic flow and enhance road safety in the area.

Under the new regulations, the speed limit on Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan Al Nahyan Street will be raised to 100 km/h between Dubai Al Ain Road and the Academic City Roundabout.

Further along the road, the limit will adjust to 90 km/h between the Academic City Roundabout and Al Khawaneej Street. Meanwhile, the speed limit on Al Amardi Street will be standardised to 90 km/h from Al Khawaneej Street to Emirates Road.

This adjustment has been coordinated with the Dubai Police General HQ, and traffic signs as well as road markings will be updated accordingly to reflect the new limits.

The RTA emphasised that these changes aim to complement recent developments and expansions on both streets, which have increased lane capacity and improved intersections. Good news for everyone who lives on the eastern side of Dubai.

Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan Al Nahyan Street has seen significant upgrades, including the construction of an overpass at Dubai Al Ain Road.

The ongoing developments are expected to see a 100 km/h speed limit along the street by 2030.

Similarly, Al Amardi Street has been expanded, with new service roads and a transformed roundabout at Al Khawaneej Street now operating as a signal-controlled intersection, further enhancing traffic safety and flow.

Drivers are encouraged to adhere to the new speed limits as they come into effect at the end of the month.
