Heading to Qatar with friends for the World Cup? Deadline for Hayya application is days away

All applicants from November 1 will need to book accommodation

Making the trip from Dubai to Qatar for the FIFA World Cup 2022? It’s time to finish your Hayya Card application, as the option is being removed next week.

From Tuesday November 1, you will no longer be able to enter a family member or friend’s private residential address as the place you will be staying during the tournament.

Instead, you will be required to book accommodation through the Qatar Accommodation Portal or third-party platforms.

Applications through the family and friends service on Hayya will be processed as normal until the deadline, so you’d better get a move on.

According to Qatar’s Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy, the change “is due to the processing time required to ensure every ticket holder receives security clearance ahead of November 1 – when the Hayya Card will serve as the only means of entry to the State of Qatar for visitors”.

The news comes as an additional 30,000 rooms were released to fans coming to Qatar for the tournament.
