WhatsApp is set to add another layer of privacy for users.
The instant messaging app, owned by Facebook’s Meta, is introducing a new feature that will mean users are able to lock and hide conversations.

Named Chat Lock, the privacy feature will remove a chat thread from the app’s onscreen inbox and keep it hidden in a folder that can only be opened by a password or facial recognition/fingerprint.
Mark Zuckerberg, Meta’s chief executive officer, announced the new feature in a Facebook post.
He said: “New locked chats in WhatsApp make your conversations more private. They’re hidden in a password-protected folder and notifications won’t show sender or message content.”
To use the new function it will be pretty easy, as all you’ll need to do is tap the name of a person or group chat then select the Chat Lock option (under disappearing message).
The user can then add a password of fingerprint to lock the chat and it will be stored in a locked chats folder.
It is not known when the feature will be rolled out in the UAE.
