Hip Hop Symposium

New Hip Hop in Dubai at The Fridge

1/2

Hip hop is easily the biggest mainstream music genre in Dubai, so it’s about right that The Fridge – Al Quoz’s hive of musical talent – should get in on the act. Yep, you may associate it with jazz gigs, classical recitals and string music, but the awesome music venue also has its fingers in more contemporary musical pies, and it’ll be showing them off this week with a Hip Hop Symposium. Organised by Fridge member Mestiza, herself something of a talent on the mic, the event will represent the four elements of hip hop – DJing, MCing, graffiti and dance – by bringing together rappers, DJs, human beatboxes, artists and spoken-word performers. Expect to see members of hip hop collective The Recipe as well (heck, they’re everywhere else these days, so how could they miss this?). And it’s all completely free. What a bargain!

Hip Hop Symposium is at The Fridge on October 25, Dhs50 inc soft drink.
