Miss Roberta is, from what we can tell, one of the biggest figures in Maltese house music. Granted, we don’t know much about Malta’s house scene – and when we tried to learn more, Google asked if we wanted to know about Maltese dogs, so it’s probably not the biggest in the world – but she still seems to have her finger on its pulse.
For a start she has her own radio show, Moovin House, which has been on every week since 2002. And then she has regular gigs: she runs her own club night, Get Funky, and plays for the Ministry of Sound, Space and Miss Moneypenny’s nights when they come to the island. She’s also the Maltese resident for all Cream and MTV events in the country.
So what can we expect when she comes out here? Well, according to the lady herself, she plays ‘deep and minimal through to tough electro and techy house, with an added twisted disco and funky sound,’ which doesn’t narrow it down much, but should make for a suitably eclectic and welcoming atmosphere when she plays a five-hour set at Platinum Club this week.
Miss Roberta plays Plus Minus Sessions at Platinum Club, January 28.
