It’s going to be a big year for 360°, is 2010. Ordinarily the club would be gearing up for its last full month before the usual May-time closure (exactly when in May, of course, depends on how long the good weather holds out). But now plans are afoot to transform the fish restaurant below into an interior section for the club, which means that sometime in the next couple of months – probably sooner rather than later – the all-new, summer-proof 360° interior will open its doors to expectant crowds.
And it’s not just physical changes the bar’s owners are making. They’ve also added a new DJ night to accompany the bar’s insanely popular weekend roster. Two weeks in, the Tuesday dancefest 360° Classics is already shaping up to be one of the better midweek nights. Looking back to the birth of house, it features everything from late ’80s acid house tunes to the odd soul, hip-hop and rock classic that would prove influential on the emerging genre. This week’s edition is hosted by a pair of Dubai lads: Tristan Bain and former Café Mambo resident Matthew Charles; future weeks will see international guests dropping by.
