Mixing things up further this weekend are legendary Philadelphia quartet Sister Sledge, the women behind disco anthem ‘We Are Family’. It would seem there are a lot of imitations and tribute bands out there, because we’ve been fiercely assured by the promoter that it’s the real Sister Sledge who’ll be taking the stage this weekend.
We’re not too sure where they’ve been hiding for the past decade, after things started quieting down for the siblings in the ’90s after the release of 1998 album African Eyes, but they’re heading to Barasti to perform a whole concert of their hits for the Friday night crowd. It’s been a while since we’ve had an evening of ’70s nostalgia, so it’s time to dig out the platform shoes and bell-bottom trousers, bring your best boogie and prepare for a night of ’70s and ’80s disco soul with classics such as ‘He’s the Greatest Dancer’, ‘Frankie’ and ‘Lost in Music’.
