10 unmissable Eid parties

Kelly Rowland, Sean Paul, Omarion, Manchester tribute and more

Thursday 1

Fire of Anatolia at Dubai World Trade Centre
This Turkish dance group is heading to Dubai for three shows over the Eid weekend, complete with extravagant costumes and awe-inspiring choreography. They promise traditional folk dances fused with modern dance and ballet – think River Dance with a Turkish twist.
From Dhs150. 8.30pm, continues until September 3. Dubai World Trade Centre, tickets from Virgin Megastores

Playmate DJ Viktoria Metzker at Horizon Lounge
Horizon Lounge has enlisted the help of the 2007 Playboy Playmate of the Year to get its Eid party started. She’s ditched the bunny ears and picked up the headphones to kick off the first Thursday of the new season.
Free. 7pm-3am. Habtoor Grand Beach Resort and Spa, (050 253 9797)

Friday 2

Antonia Live at XL Beach Club
XL Beach Club will reopen its doors to Dubai’s glamorous beach worshippers on Friday 2 with a post-Ramadan extravaganza. The party kicks off with an Eid bash hosted by Romanian singer Antonia, who will perform her smash-hit single, ‘Morena’, while Dubai’s party people guzzle bubbly and dance the night away. Also look out for the brand new Ministry of Sound R&B night, starting this September.
Dhs150, free until 6pm. 2pm-3am. Habtoor Grand Beach Resort and Spa (056 640 6161)

Juliana Down live at Cheers Bar
One of the UAE’s best-known commercial rock band will be warming up their guitars to mark the end of Ramadan. Having opened for Guns N’Roses at Yas Island in Abu Dhabi last year, the boys are back for what promises to be a head-banger of a night, supported by cover band Black Parachute, whose setlist includes the likes of The Police and Kings of Leon. There’s also a happy hour from 9pm until 10pm, so arrive early to get your money’s worth.
Dhs80. 9pm-3am. Cheers Bar, Al Nasr Leisureland, Oud Metha (04 337 9470)

Karl Wolf at Club Sensation
After recently signing a huge deal to release his music Stateside, Lebanese musical heart-throb Karl Wolf is back in the Middle East to perform his latest single, ‘Ghetto Love’, for the first time live in Dubai. Urban music fans who want to hear a sneak peek of his new album, Africa, should head down to Club Sensation on Friday 2. Wolf’s smooth lyrics and club beats have made him a huge hit in the Middle East and he has recently teamed up with reggae star Kardinal Official, as well as British pop star Taio Cruz. With abs to rival Jersey Shore’s Mike ‘The Situation’ Sorrentino, even if you’re not a huge fan of his music, at least you’ll have something nice to look at.
Dhs100. 10pm-3am. Club Sensation, Crowne Plaza Dubai, Sheikh Zayed Road (04 331 1111)

Loaded: Madchester
The birthplace of the British indie music scene is being honoured at this Manchester-themed party. Organised by indie club night Loaded, the event celebrates the news that the Loaded DJs are opening for Beady Eye in Abu Dhabi later this month. Expect to hear the sounds of Oasis, The Stone Roses and The Smiths, while cult film 24 Hour Party People plays on a big screen overhead. If that doesn’t inspire you, there will also be a chance to win tickets to see Beady Eye.
Free. 9pm-3am. Casa Latina, Ibis Hotel Al Barsha (04 399 6699)

Omarion at Chi
For one night only, former B2K boy band singer Omarion is set to storm the stage at Chi on September 2. P Diddy’s protégé will be here to perform some of the tracks from recent album Ollusion, as well as 2006 hit single ‘Ice Box’. He is also promising exclusive performances from his highly anticipated new mixtape, The Awakening.
Dhs150. 9pm-3am. Chi@The Lodge, Al Nasr Leisureland, Oud Metha (04 337 9470)

PMC Royale’s First Birthday
This Persian and house music night is celebrating being one year old with an all-out birthday bash. Atlantis’s Asateer tent on Nasimi Beach will host the party, where you can be sure to expect a night of decadence and sultry club anthems.
Dhs150. 9pm-3am. Asateer Tent, Atlantis, Palm Jumeirah (055 909 7475)

Saturday 3

Grind at Catwalk
What this diminutive Barsha club lacks in size, it definitely makes up for in big tunes and great drinks deals. With the DJs lining up the hottest mix of reggae, dancehall and euphoric R&B tunes for the post-Ramadan bash on Saturday 3, we’re sure there will be no room for wallflowers, so hit the dancefloor early to grab a prime spot.
Free. 9pm-3am, September 3. Catwalk, Golden Tulip Al Barsha (050 451 7002)

Sunday 4

Kelly Rowland, Sean Paul and T-Pain at Meydan
Shoppiesta is rounding off the Eid weekend in a big way, with three extra-hot artists taking to the stage. Former Destiny’s Child member Kelly Rowland will add a dose of R&B glamour to the evening, serenading fans with tunes from her latest album, Here I Am (and hopefully a few vintage Destiny’s Child tracks thrown in for good measure). Jay Sean will get the crowd moving with his reggae stylings (we’ll be hoping to hear a live rendition of 2009 single ‘Down’), while notorious bad boy T-Pain will round things off with his trademark slick lyrics and hip-hop beats.
Tickets from Dhs100. 7pm-midnight, September 4. Meydan, Nad Al Sheba, www.timeouttickets.com
