Welcome to Condale is a feel-good record

Welcome to Condale
3/5

Despite initially hiding behind vintage photos on their MySpace page, the baritone of former solo folkster Jeremy Warmsley on the Young EP was unmistakable, regardless of the fuzz it was steeped in. SC’s debut
LP Welcome to Condale, based on a fictitious town brimming with teen drama, has more of the same upbeat, retro synthwork and haunting vocals, but it’s darker. Elizabeth Sankey’s aching wail combines with gnashing riffs on ‘Nobody Knows You’, while ‘Brian Krakov’ is dominated by an antagonistic, repetitive beat. It’s a feelgood record, but with one helluva bite.
