Thousands of clubbers will be staying at Home this Friday. Becky Lucas finds out why.
Why will so many people be at Home this Friday, February 1?
Why, because Home is the name of Chi’s new regular Friday night, of course.
Ah, clever. Why is it called Home? Isn’t that just going to confuse cab drivers?
Because, as resident ‘cheese deej’ Tim Cheddar explains, ‘People like to listen to different types of music in the comfort of their own home. Now they can do it in the comfort of ours. Once you’re through the front door, you can go wherever your eyes and ears take you!’
How does it work, then?
Each of The Lodge’s different rooms will offer a different sound every week, including dance, indie, pop and R&B. They’ll take it in turns to take over the big Garden each week, on rotation.
Who’ll be playing chez nous on the opening night?
The ‘Welcome Home’ launch party will feature Tim’s monthly slice of Cheese in The Garden Of Edam, this time with an après-ski (read: ‘hat and scarves’) theme. Inside, homegrown dance night ‘House Proud’ will be speeding up the BPMs in Chi Lounge, massive R&B night ‘Slam’ will be bumping and grinding in Chi Club, and indie night ‘Step On’ will be inspiring fancy footwork during its new weekly slot.’ Chi Red will be our regular room,’ explains Step On don Mark Evans. ‘Then on Friday 15 we’ll head into Chi Garden for a showdown with rival indie night Twisted Melons.’
Will you be inviting international DJs into our new Home?
Thursday remains Chi’s main night for international acts and DJs, but if there’s a big name in town and they know their manners, they might just get invited in on a Friday.
Home takes place every Friday night in Chi at The Lodge from 9pm-3am. Entrance is free before 10.30pm, and free for ladies and guestlist before midnight, Dhs100 after. Strictly over 21s. Door policy applies. For the full February line- up, join the Home group on Facebook or call Chi @ The Lodge on 04 337 9470.
