Comedy show casts aside Western reliance for one night

If you ever hear one murmur of criticism about Dubai’s biggest comedy promoter, it’s that it tends to concentrate on a Western-focused crew – an alternating line-up of Brits, Aussies and Irish. Not tonight, though: for one night only, the team has thrown its regular touring schedule aside for a one-off bill of India’s finest funnymen.

Topping the lot is Rohan Joshi, a former journalist who’s now a member of Weirdass Comedy, India’s first and foremost comedy consultancy, improv troupe the Cardinal Bengans, and a humour columnist for the Mid-Day, one of Mumbai’s largest tabloids. Also sharing jokes will be scriptwriter Anuvab Pal (pictured), best known for the award- winning Loins of Punjab, and improv-heavy Tanmay Bhat.
