Nightlife news in Dubai

Latest news on the city's non-stop nightlife scene

Well hello, party people, and welcome to this brand new column devoted to Dubai’s non-stop nightlife scene.

First up, we can tell you that yes, we were right when we revealed some weeks back that there are to be just two more Sandance festivals this year – on Friday October 12 (line-up just announced, see page 7) and seeing in the new year on Monday December 31, no less. We’ve also had a tip-off that there will be some other ‘major international’ event on Atlantis’s Sandance beach between the two festivals. For now, we’d advise keeping Friday November 9 free.

More details are emerging about the new 360°, set to be reborn in mid-October, with the former seafood restaurant below now kitted out as a year-round venue spinning nu-disco grooves. The venue will feature an in-house DJ, a mixologist to craft tune-themed drinks and an Asian ‘food concept’. Expect a sneak peek here.

We’ve just heard that Dubai’s least exclusive member’s club, Blue Marlin Ibiza, is gearing up for a reopening party on Friday September 21, with Behrouz and Fred Stone behind the decks. Talking of parties, any new openings, you ask? Turn to page 7 for news on Hollywood hangout Villa Romana coming to Dubai – remember, you heard it here first.

Looking ahead, October is likely to be a veritable monster. It all kicks off with dxb Music Festival, headlined by Afrojack and Kaskade, on Friday October 5. Then it’s first Sandance of the season on Friday October 12. And now Atelier has said it will host a 16,000-capacity event at Meydan on Friday October 19, with US R&B superstar 50 Cent headlining. More acts on the bill are set to be announced soon, so keep your eyes on The new season is here – now get out and play.
