Dubai nightlife hype

The latest hype on the Dubai nightlife scene

With upcoming UAE gigs from Yngwie Malmsteen, Metallica and Iron Maiden’s Blaze Bayley, you’d think Dubai’s metal lovers were spoilt for choice right now. But we have some news that might make even the most collected of headbangers break out in a cold sweat: an all-female Iron Maiden tribute band are coming to Dubai. Appropriately named The Iron Maidens will play an unconfirmed venue on Friday June 28.

And if that wasn’t enough for rockers, we’ve heard rumours that Bon Jovi, Europe and former Pink Floyd man Roger Waters are all being eyed up by UAE promoters – let’s hope these deals come through.

Happy hours may traditionally be placed earlier in the evening as a strategic way to get punters through the door, but one venue has flipped the concept by rewarding drinkers who stick around until the end. In a move that may be the ruin of many workers’ sleeping schedules, Rosso has launched a happy hour from midnight until 3am, conveniently on every night except weekends.

There are more concrete details now available about the Happy Mondays gig we revealed back in February. The band’s full, original line-up – performing together for the first time in 19 years – will play a single date in the Middle East on their reunion tour: they land at Dubai Tennis Stadium on Friday April 26.

Finally, an update on new openings: the launch of Crystal’s new Sheikh Zayed Road rooftop bar, 40 Kong, has now been delayed until September/October to skip the summer months, while the Souk Al Bahar Sake No Hana is now on track for mid-April. That’s all for now, party people – now get out and play!
