There’s a stack of big parties ahead as the scene gears up for summer

How time flies when you’re having fun. Our friends at Blue Marlin Ibiza are gearing up to celebrate 12 months in the UAE – and what a party they have planned. On Friday May 3, three international names will spin at what will surely turn out to be one of the biggest nights this side of summer, with trailblazing Hot Creations founder Jamie Jones back to DJ alongside other heavyweights Davide Squillace and Richy Ahmed.

Competition comes from Trilogy, which has lined up a decent array of talent for May, taking advantage of the heat forcing clubbers inside. Notably, there’s a soundsystem gig from UK disco-house group Crazy P on Thursday May 9, while Brit DJ Maya Jane Coles – who exploded out of nowhere to win a shedload of awards in 2011 – guests at the club on Thursday May 30, plus more to come.

One of our favourite urban nights is moving to a new home. Diamond Wednesdays has ended its time at Boudoir to launch at XL Beach club on Wednesday April 24.

Speaking of big parties, award-winning pub and all-round Dubai institution The Irish Village is preparing for a massive one soon. Taking place on Friday May 2 and Saturday May 3, and now in its fifth year, The Big Weekend promises all the usual IV shenanigans – and drinks from just Dhs21. Glug-tastic.

Finally, those wondering what happened to Dubai’s Supperclub will be pleased to know the Amsterdam export is expected to open at the Jumeirah Zabeel Saray any day now. A source close to the club told us it would offer a different experience to its Amsterdam namesake. That’s all for now, party people – now get out and play!
