Brendan Grace at Almas Towers
Irish comedian and singer Grace is best known for his role as Murphy in the 1995 movie Moondance, and his stint in TV sitcom Father Ted as Father Fintan Stack. Comedy single ‘Combine Harvester’ hit number one at home in 1975, and then achieved the same in the UK a year later when covered by The Wurzels. He’s getting on a bit, but is something of a national treasure.

Back together for the first time in 19 years, the original Mondays line-up plays the Middle East for the first time – Shaun Ryder brought a ragtag bag of musicians over in 2009, but this is the real deal. There’s no new music on the way, and Ryder has more or less admitted the decision to bury the hatchet was financial, but that’s unlikely to dull the impact of hearing vintage hits ‘Step On’ and ‘Kinky Afro’.

Jay Wud at The Music Room
Fresh from supporting Guns N’ Roses in Abu Dhabi last month, Lebanese rocker Wud – who has also warmed up for Aerosmith and Led Zeppelin’s Robert Plant in his time – headlines his own gig. Known for technical riffing and squealing solos à la Steve Vai, Wud seems to be courting a more commercial audience of late. He’ll be supported tonight by hard-rockers Point of View.
