Two singer-songwriters share new material, The Fridge turns to rock and 360° goes indoors in style.
Hats off to hotly hyped UAE singer Melissa Le Rue for the release of her new single ‘Unite’, which precedes the tipped US launch of a full EP later this year. The tune was launched this week at the opening show in the Fridge’s latest concert series. If you missed out there’s still more music to catch, with the season’s full line-up now confirmed. While typically eclectic, the talent bookers have gone markedly more rock for this 13th edition, with upcoming post-rockers Fox Hill V on Monday May 27, Point of View on Monday June 17, and rivals Juliana Down a week later. Also performing at the Alserkal Avenue venue will be classical duo Viktoriya and Nadine on Monday June 3 and jazz pianist Philippe El Hage on Monday June 10. We’re looking forward to another diverse musical mix.
Another Dubai-based talent with new material up his sleeve is Tim Hassall. The singer-songwriter has been a busy boy of late, cooking up a new tune accompanied by a video which features lots of Arabic calligraphy, alongside shots of the troubadour haunting bars and guitar shops. Hassall himself describes the move as ‘really groundbreaking for an expatriate artist’. Check out ‘Bribing the Reaper’ on YouTube now.
House heads will be pleased to hear there’s more news from 360°, which will be opening over summer for the first time thanks to the new lower deck. Friday night promoter Audio Tonic has revealed its June line-up, with an indoor launch on June 7 featuring Hot Since 82, Claptone on June 21, and Balcazar & Sordo on June 28, plus residents on June 14.
That’s all for now party people – so get out there and play.
