Point of View go on tour, No.1 Fridays move indoors in a new home, plus new house nights and acoustic tunes
As we went to press Dubai rockers Point of View were jetting off on their first major international tour. The band we named Best Dubai Act earlier this year is touring India alongside celebrity fan, Guns ’N’ Roses guitarist Ron ‘Bumblefoot’ Thal, who’ll be appearing alongside the quintet playing the band’s material, as well as his own. With five cities in five days, the intensive tour wraps up with a headline slot at the Moshpit Mayhem festival in Calcutta on Saturday June 15. Good work guys.
Fresh from hosting a well-received rooftop party with NYC legend John Morales, Dust has teamed up once more with Electric Days to host an indoor party. Taking place at The Q Underground on Friday June 28, the event is headlined by a double-header of UK guests, Ben Sun and Tyson Ballard, both label mates on resident Megadon Betamax’s homegrown Voyeurhythm Records.
Award-winning urban night No.1 Fridays may have hosted a closing party at outdoor venue White X Lounge, but it’s wasted no time at all in getting stuck right back in – the team has now launched an indoor incarnation back at its old home. Join them as they smash it at Atlantis’s N’Dulge every week from 10pm until July 5. We’ll see you on the floor.
Meanwhile Movida has launched a new night, Absolute House, which we’re expecting will do exactly what it says on the tin. New resident decksmith DJ Nick Waters will be dropping house (we suspect) every Thursday from 11pm.
Fans of acoustic music will be pleased to hear there’s a singer- songwriter showcase planned at The Pavilion Downtown on Wednesday June 19. And that’s all for now party people.
