New nights, gigs and musical success in Dubai

We challenge you to the next round of our quiz, hear about new nights, gigs, and celebrate some local success

Did you have the brains (or bravery) to take on the Time Out team at our quiz night? After six weeks at the Dubai World Trade Centre branch of McGettigan’s our first official quiz night wrapped up this week, on Monday June 17, but expect us to be back with another round in the new season. Advice: pick brainy teammates.

Yet more news over at 360°. Firstly we’ve heard about some of the big bookings being lined up for the new season, with both Feel My Bicep and Stanton Warriors touted for upcoming gigs, and many more promised names bandied about. However, we’ve more excited about talk of four brand new nights launching at the venue – that’s right: Four. New. Nights. Running alongside the normal upstairs house music policy provided by Audio Tonic on Fridays, the indoor lower deck is hoped to take on a new life of its own, with different promoters taking care of the downstairs deck on a monthly basis. We’ve heard both breakbeat and indie nights are on the cards, with some established Dubai DJs and promoters said to be involved. Excited we are.

Hot on the heels of a memorable visit from Blaze Bayley, we’ve heard another former Iron Maiden man is being lined up to play at The Music Room in the early part of the next season. Stay tuned for more.

Lastly a quick shout out to Dubai-based house head Haneef Al Raisi. At the time of press the Emirati DJ/producer had clocked nearly half a million YouTube plays for his new single, ‘Black White’, produced alongside Polish artist Boya Chile.

There’s only a few weeks of fun left before the quieter summer period – so turn to page 18 to plan your last big nights out right now.

That’s all for now, party people!
