We dig up the juicy rumours, new openings and hot events in Dubai’s music and nightlife scene.
First up, in case you weren’t aware, the Sandance guys have added yet another top name to the already strong line up for November 15. UK duo Basement Jaxx will be joining Rudimental, Chic featuring Nile Rodgers and Jamiroquai on the beach at Atlantis – we personally can’t wait.
Media One is back on our radars, as on November 8 DJ Scratch will be taking to the decks on the P7 carpark venue to spin some tunes as part of a special night that sees a collaboration between Yonique and Adidas Originals. Scratch is a hip-hop producer as well as a DJ and has worked with names included 50 Cent and Busta Rhymes, racking up some 30 million album sales along the way.
In other news, a brand new nightspot has thrown open its doors at Atlantis. Yuan is a new bar and lounge which brings fine Chinese food together with special mixed drinks that are prepared with Asian ingredients such as ginger and sesame seeds. In a similar way to Okku, this venue has a resident DJ in the evenings to liven things up.
Over at Dubai Jazz Festival, another name has been added to the list of performers. Multi-platinum Californian singer Colbie Caillat will be joining British Crooner Jamie Cullum on stage on 20 February 2014.
In other news, yet another new venue has been announced for the world’s tallest hotel. A new restaurant lounge and bar is opening next month and it’s a Middle-Eastern concept called Nawwara – we’ll be sure to keep you posted on any developments.
Finally, unless you’ve not been paying attention, the diminutive hip-hopper Tinie Tempah has joined the next RedFestDXB festival. Now that should be plenty for you to think about and look forward to. Enjoy.
