Watch the Rugby League World Cup in Dubai

Our pick of sports bars screening the games

1/2

With the Rugby League World Cup 2013 and a whole range of international rugby union clashes taking place until Saturday November 30, the city’s sports bars are throwing open their doors to devoted rugby fans. Check out our three top pubs in which to watch your team.

Nezesaussi

This New Zealand, South African and Australian-themed sports bar puts an enormous focus on rugby (you only have to glance around the room at the sporting paraphernalia to see where their interests lie). With screens around the room, there are usually several games on, but on big match days you’ll want to arrive early.
Al Manzil Hotel, Downtown Dubai (04 428 5888).

Bidi Bondi
Part beach bar, part sports bar, this relaxed Aussie hangout offers a no-frills place to catch the action, with screenings surrounding the central bar and a larger projector screen rolled out for bigger games.
Between Shoreline Apartments 3 and 4, Palm Jumeirah (04 427 0515).

McGettigan’s
Head to the JLT branch of this perennially popular Irish haunt to cheer on your team. As you might expect, the bar gets particularly lively during Irish, English and Welsh games. Coincidentally, all three of these bars not only screen a large portion of live rugby matches, but also serve up top notch bar food.
Bonnington, Jumeirah Lakes Towers (04 356 0560).
