New single from Hollaphonic

Plus the latest nightlife rumours, openings and hot events in Dubai

We dig up the juicy rumours, new openings and hot events in Dubai’s music and nightlife scene.

Unless you’ve been on a self-enforced news strike this week you will have undoubtedly heard that arguably the greatest rock and roll band in the world are heading to Abu Dhabi to perform live on February 21 at the du Arena. Given Mick and Keith’s respective vintages, we for one will be going to great lengths to catch this historic concert from The Rolling Stones, when tickets go on sale this week on Thursday December 12.

Back in Dubai, we’d like to congratulate locally-based electronic duo Hollaphonic on their latest single ‘Fabric.’ To check it out, head to local stream app Anghami or head to the group’s Soundcloud.

In other news, we have heard that Irish-themed nightspot McGettigan’s continues to expand its empire across the UAE. The popular Gaelic pub chain is set to open a brand new venue down the road in Abu Dhabi this coming February.

Devotees of ’90s cheese will be pleased to note that December 3 saw tickets go on sale for MiXTAPE Rewind, which us scheduled to take place next year on January 17. With Jenny from Ace of Base, Haddaway, Culture Beat, La Bouche, Go West and SNAP! all on the line-up, that’s a lot of throwback pop to enjoy.

Finally, Dubai has added yet another nightspot to its ever-expanding clubbing scene. This time it’s TECOM, where the Grand Millennium Hotel has just opened Tabla Club. With hip-hop and commercial house, the Egyptian brand promises a ‘carefree ambiance’ and a ‘seductive sound system’.

With a new club, plenty of gigs lined up and locally-produced music to check out, there’s plenty to keep you occupied this week. Enjoy!
