This week's nightlife news

Black Sabbath, Santana and Boney M gig news

We dig up the juicy rumours, new openings and hot events in Dubai’s music and nightlife scene.

First up, a reminder that we are less than a month from 2014’s MiXTAPE Rewind. Retro fans can enjoy a line- up that includes Boney M, Dr Alban, N-Trance, Snap and Vengaboys to look forward to when the festival hits Emirates Golf Club on January 17. You can snap up tickets at www.timeouttickets.com.

In other news, organisers of the Dubai International Jazz Festival have announced changes to the original dates. Santana will now perform on Thursday February 20, a day earlier than previously advertised, while Brit pianist Jamie Cullum and US singer/songwriter Colbie Caillat’s gig has also been moved forward a day to Wednesday February 19. A statement from promoters Chillout Productions said: ‘Because of the massive demand and feedback from fans of the annual music festival, Chillout Productions announced that the second weekend of main gigs have been moved one day earlier.’

Fans of weathered rock veterans are in for a treat as Ozzy Osbourne and the other members of metal royalty Black Sabbath are scheduled to perform in Abu Dhabi on May 29. Tickets, which went on sale at 1pm on Wednesday, can be purchased from locations including branches of Virgin Megastore.

Back in Dubai there are a few new openings to make sure you investigate within the next couple of weeks. Lebanese club brand White Dubai is launching a new space on the terrace of the Meydan racecourse. And, in Media City, Q43 has thrown open its doors in the Media One Hotel, promising house music and a New York loft atmosphere. We’ll let you know our verdict shortly, so keep an eye on upcoming issues
