Lionel Richie at Dubai Media City
Promising ‘All The Hits, All Night Long’, Richie’s juggernaut tour is expected to leave no hit-shape stone unturned. Journeys of the Eastern Mind at The Music Room

Elsewhere, Empty Yard Experiment perform their first-ever unplugged set, with Jay Wud also on the bill. At the close of the evening, all three acts will take to the stage for a jam.

La Moustache at Cirque le Soir
A brand new bi-weekly night at this circus-themed London export, the (bizarre) theme is a celebration of all things hairy. In keeping with said theme, anyone wearing a moustache will receive a free short drink. Meanwhile those without moustaches will be given props. #kooky.
Free (reservations recommended). 10pm-3am. Cirque le Soir, Fairmont Dubai, Sheikh Zayed Road (056 115 4507).

Peter Hook at Media One
A real rarity – a musician actually deserving of the term ‘legend’ – Peter Hook lands back in Dubai to spin for Step On. If you don’t know who he is, Google Joy Division and New Order now. Hooky remains a somewhat controversial figure, what with falling out with Bernard Sumner and revisiting Ian Curtis tunes with his band The Light (heartfelt tribute or careerist exploitation? The fans are split). Here, however, we can expect a bagload of indie classics and perhaps some vintage house fare as the man behind The Hacienda, and much else, brings the party to town.
Free before 11pm, Dhs100 after. 6pm-3am. Level 41, Media One Hotel, Dubai Media City (04 427 1000).

Dhs70 includes two drinks before 8pm. Dhs100 after 8pm. Tamanya Terrace, Radisson Blu, Dubai Media City, doorlist@electricdays.net.

The Gypsy Swing Project at Century Village
This kooky Django-aping quartet – who just last week celebrated the release of debut LP Paris-Dubai – recall and re-imagine the heady, swinging 1930s Paris of jazz Manouche, with Django-ified takes on French classics by Edith Piaf, Georges Brassens and Mr Reinhardt himself.
Free. 9pm. Century Village, Garhoud (04 282 4122).

Saturday 19

Monday 21

Hip-Hop Chic with DJ Jazzy Jeff at Cirque Le Soir
Little more than three months after his scene-stealing party set at Barasti for NYE – which saw a thousand cameraphones whipped out when former sparring partner Will Smith made a surprise turn on the mic – top club DJ Jazzy returns for what will no doubt be both a far more intimate, and far more purist-pleasing night. Last time he played Cirque in April 2013 he tore the floor up, so this is not to be missed.
Free (reservations recommended). 10pm-3am. Cirque Le Soir, Fairmont Dubai, Sheikh Zayed Road (056 115 4507).

Kamal Musallam at O Cacti
Eccentric (and ferociously talented) guitar and oud player Musallam – known for Arabic-tinged jazz fusion workouts – begins a new weekly residency at this Marina Mexican, performing in a new duo alongside violinist Pasha Cazan. Expect exotic explorations that touch on everything from jazz to electronica.
Free. 8pm. O Cacti, Pier 7, Dubai Marina Mall (04 452 6699).
