Aces at Boutiq Ultra Lounge

Djuma Soundsystem at Calabar
Get Physical’s Djuma Soundsystem, from Norway, spins for three nights at this hip lounge, with local JC Pinto also on the decks. Expect a smart mix of tech house and more earthy flavours.

Flashdance Featuring East 17 at Cavalli
The two less-familiar members of the ’90s boyband sensation (‘Stay Another Day’ et al) – Terry Colwell and John Hendy – plus ex-Artful Dodger Robbie Craig return to Dubai two months after their last show as ‘East 17’ at The Music Room. This time playing Cavalli’s fun-loving retro-night.

Glow at Media One
The whole of Media One’s Level 41 venue will be flooded with UV lights for this one-off party, with glow-in-the-dark drinks at the bar, plus free glowsticks and face paint. Expect commercial house and more from DJs Benyamin and Kel on the decks.

Sintillate at Movida ‘Original VIP Party

The Revenge at Story Rooftop

The Christians at Century Village

Tommy Trash at Nasimi Beach

Audio Tonic present Native at 360°
Recently celebrating eight years in Dubai, the emirate’s top house night hosts a home-grown Native edition – with a twist. While reliable residents Rich Showell, Markii and JC Pinto man the decks upstairs, underground bass and breaks nights Breakin Even and Future Funk go back-to-back down below.

Deep Crates Cartel present DJ Shortkut at The Q Underground
Influential wax juggler Shortkut has been at the forefront of turntablism as a member of the Invisibl Skratch Piklz, Beat Junkie Sound and Triple Threat DJs crews. Having shared decks with DJ Jazzy Jeff, Maseo (De La Soul) and Ali Shaheed Muhammad (A Tribe Called Quest), his credentials are exemplary.

Guns n’ Roses tribute at The Music Room
In the highly competitive (and slightly surreal) world of tribute bands, GnRE claim to stand from fellow imitators as ‘the closest and most authentic Gn’R tribute in Europe,’ eschewing ‘silly joke shop wigs’ and instead focusing on the getting the music right. With endorsements from fringe band members Steven Adler, Gilby Clarke and Bumblefoot, we’re expecting some pretty tight interpretations of all the Appetite-era classics. Chinese Democracy fans are probably best to steer clear.

Sandance at Atlantis
After a notable hiatus Dubai’s biggest beach festival returns for the first time in 2014 with a typically huge and markedly retro-focused, line-up. Top billing goes to iconic dance-pop duo Pet Shop Boys and Brit big beat DJ Fatboy Slim, returning to the sands almost exactly two years since playing 2012’s season closer. At sunset you can expect the grooves of classic, soulful hip-hop troupe Arrested Development – always fantastic live – with painfully chirpy indie boys Scouting for Girls after dark. Also performing are top South African jazz-influenced dance duo Goldfish, Saudi DJ Omar Basaad and the UAE’s Hollaphonic.

Societe Great Gatsby Party
This otherwise shamelessly relaxed and retro nightspot goes all posh for an evening of mixed drinks and fashion fads, Just don’t expect Leo DiCaprio to turn up.

Kamal Musallam album launch at Alliance Francaise
Dubai-based jazz/fusion guitar and oud player Musallam unveils album number five. Homemade in Rome mixes flamenco touches with jazz workouts and Arabic scales. To celebrate the UAE release the LP’s Italian band – including a flamenco dancer – visit Dubai for this launch gig.
