Juicy rumours and news from the Dubai music and nightlife scene

We dig up the juicy rumours, new openings and hot events in Dubai’s music and nightlife scene.

American electro house DJ Steve Aoki will perform at Eden Beach Club on Thursday February 5. Known for his energetic live sets, Aoki has collaborated with producers and artists such as will. i. am, Laidback Luke, Iggy Azalea and Afrojack. The star is currently releasing his two-part album Neon Future, with the first part released late last year. Aoki is famed as much for his on-stage antics and lively performances – such as throwing cake at revellers – as he is for his Grammy-nominated music.

In other news, UAE-born Josh Monteath, a 22-year-old singer, guitarist and composer, has been causing quite the buzz on social media platforms over the last month with his #GetJoshtoSheeran campaign. His aim? To open for Ed Sheeran at his concert at the Dubai Media City Amphitheatre on Thursday March 5 by spreading the word. Monteath is no stranger to the local music scene. The artist began his musical journey at the tender age of 12 and is currently a weekly fixture at the Vida Downtown Picnic brunch.

Elsewhere, Audio Tonic Sunset Sessions have announced their February line-up, which welcomes back Brazilian artist from Season 8, Anna. She is also supported by Raxon who returns for his first gig back in the UAE since moving to Barcelona in November 2014.

Lastly, Ellie Goulding fans will love her new single ‘Love Me Like You Do’, written for the soundtrack of Universal Pictures and Focus Features’ hotly anticipated upcoming film Fifty Shades of Grey. The anthemic new single is being released via Polydor Records on Sunday February 15. The track is available to stream via Vevo and for pre-order on iTunes.
