Chanelle Tourish takes a look at the acts headlining this year’s Emirates Airline Dub
Platinum-selling singer-songwriter James Blunt will be headlining the opening night of the festival on Wednesday February 25. The singer shot to fame with his debut album Back To Bedlam, released in 2005 with hits ‘Goodbye My Lover’ and ‘You’re Beautiful’. Also performing is award-winning musician Christina Perri, who will be making her Middle East debut. At just 23, the American singer’s debut single ‘Jar of Hearts’ charted after it was featured on the Fox television show So You Think You Can Dance in 2010.
Sixteen-time Grammy award-winning musician Sting will perform on Thursday February 26 and fans can expect to hear many of his greatest hits from his solo career including ‘Englishman in New York’, as well as some of The Police’s classics including ‘Message In A Bottle’, which helped the band enter The Rock And Roll Hall of Fame in 2003. Supporting Sting is 28-year-old American violinist Lindsey Stirling, who will perform everything from classical to pop, hip-hop and electronic dance. She rose to fame in 2010 as a quarter-finalist on season five of America’s Got Talent and has since released two albums, an EP and several singles.
American singer-songwriter, musician and producer John Legend, who is known for his legendary, soulful voice, will bring his signature mix of jazz, pop and soul to the stage on Friday February 27. Also contributing to the melody of the festival’s closing day, is Esperanza Spalding, the acclaimed American jazz bassist, cellist and singer.
