We round up the best venues with live jazz music in Dubai, from the swanky newcomers to the no-frills toe-tapping joints.

While Dubai’s jazz scene isn’t yet on a par with cities like New York, it does offer a growing selection of nights to get your soulful fix.

The Gramercy

The newly re-launched gastro-pub showcases handpicked local, established artists. Jazz up your Monday evenings with the passionate rhythms of Dave Holland and his saxophone. Having toured with international artists including Kelly Clarkson, The O’Jays, John Legend and the Black Eyed Peas – he has plenty of music experience under his belt.

Le Paradis French Kitchen

Enjoy live music every Thursday evening with Stereo Sound, a unique band that plays an array of genres, from jazz to motown and funk. Previously signed to Universal Music, the group have a new ‘live lounge’ album set for release this month.
Every Thursday, 8.30pm-11.30pm. The Beach, JBR (04 425 7769).

AND Lounge
Every week guests can request their favourite songs at And Lounge. Playing audience requests on duelling pianos live, the team at Party Piano play just about every genre. To top it off, every last Wednesday of the month will see a battle of the pianos.

Frioul

Listen to live jazz singers from 9pm on Thursday and Friday evenings at this French hotspot. Artists on rotation include Rachael Calladine, who is regarded as one of the country’s top soul and jazz vocalists. During Friday brunch, guests can enjoy the sounds of the Kamal Musallam Jazz Band between noon and 4pm.

Delphine Restaurant and Bar
During Friday’s brunch at Delphine, guests can enjoy the ‘Sparkling Hollywood’ package, which includes buffet food, drinks and live music by The Swing Revue, a band specialising in jazz and swing music.

Café Belge
Every Tuesday will see an evening of live music from jazz band ‘Jazz Par Trois’. The newly formed band consists of a trio of experienced musicians, including vocalist Alice Grace, formerly of London’s Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club, Café Belge’s resident saxophonist Adam Long, and a guitarist, who will entertain diners with upbeat contemporary jazz.

Tr!beca Kitchen & Bar

The one-man band, Adam Baluch takes to the stage every Friday, playing a mix of soulful jazz and funk. The Dubai-based artist has supported international singers, Lionel Ritchie and Gary Barlow in concert.

Blue Bar
Listen to local band Abri & Funk Radius perform a mix of jazz and funk music. The group is led by the talented Hamdan Al Abri who has performed alongside everyone from Kanye West to Joss Stone and Herbie Hancock.

The Ivy Jazz Lounge
Listen to the tones of Ciaran Fox – Dubai’s answer to Bobby Darin. The Irish performer will have you dancing in your seat whilst you are cast back to 1950s New York listening to swing and big band music. Expect to hear old favourites as well as reworked modern hits.

Jazz@PizzaExpress
Head to a jazz jam session by local artists and hosted by Rachael Calladine, a UK singer who has appeared on the bill at the world famous jazz club Ronnie Scott’s in London.
