We begin with the disappointing news that American rapper Tyga’s appearance at People By Crystal has been cancelled and he will now be at VIP Room’s ‘On Air’ night Thursday April 9. Tyga is no stranger to the hip-hop scene, having collaborated with A-listers including Chris Brown, Rick Ross and Lil Wayne.
Next up, New York-inspired hotspot Tr!beca has officially launched its organic brunch. The ‘Big Apple Brunch’ starts from 2pm each Friday until 6pm. Guests can choose the Dhs199 soft drinks package or the Dhs349 package, which comes with selected house beverages and mixed drinks. Throughout the brunch, resident DJ Stu Todd, coupled with a host of live musicians, will play music from the ’80s and ’90s.
In other news La Residence Restaurant & Lounge located at the iconic Raffles Dubai, is set to open its doors on Thursday April 30. Elsewhere in the city, Frioul Bistro De Luxe at Souk Madinat Jumeirah will play host to UK jazz band Slinky, who will perform their ‘neo soul to high-octane jazz funk’ sounds every Tuesday to Friday for the first time in the Middle East.
Meanwhile, fans of the region’s most popular soul and funk band, Abri & Funk Radius, can catch the group live every Saturday in April at Toko Dubai in Vida Downtown Dubai. The group will perform their soulful music from 8.30pm. And fans of The Rolling Stones can get their hands on a newly launched book produced in collaboration with the band and signed by all four members. It is available at En Vogue Dubai on Jumeirah Beach Road and costs Dhs23,000 for the limited-edition version. But those with shallower pockets, fear not.
The hardcover version costs a snip of the price at Dhs720.
