Dubai party news

French Montana, Chuck Wonderland, British Rock and more

Swish venue VIP Room welcomes back rapper French Montana on Thursday 23 April. The Moroccan-born American artist last appeared at the club in JW Marriott Marquis Dubai in November, at a night in conjunction with the Abu Dhabi Formula 1 races. Expect an explosive set from Khloé Kardashian’s old flame.

Sticking with VIP Room, the venue (in Business Bay) has launched its new Friday night event ‘Cool Kids Made in VIP Room’. We hear the night has a dizzying array of influences, from James Dean to Dubai’s urban art scene, and will feature resident DJ Chuck Wonderland playing rock, pop and funk alongside old-school hip-hop.

Meanwhile, Blue Marlin Ibiza UAE, in the Golden Tulip Al Jazira Hotel and Resort, Ghantoot, has announced that three prodigious international DJs will be performing on the same night this month. Influential Ibiza regulars NEVERDOGS, Bas Ibellini, (who started by acting as warm-up for The Neptunes) and Sicilian Musumeci – in the UAE for the first time – will grace the decks of the club’s terrace on Friday April 24.

More music is on the menu at Bur Dubai’s The Music Room in Majestic Hotel Tower. On Friday April 24 there’s a ‘Best of British Rock’ night, featuring bands from the UAE and USA performing covers of some of the most incendiary tunes to come from Britain since the 1960s. Next month (Thursday May 21) it’s also welcoming former Judas Priest frontman Tim ‘Ripper’ Owens for a gig.

Finally, we’re sad to hear that the weekly salsa nights at Azure Bleu in Meydan Beach have been cancelled. We have fond memories of clicking our castanets on Tuesday evenings at the JBR venue.
