Martin Garrix wins MTV EMA ahead of Dubai NYE

DJ Martin Garrix claimed an MTV EMA for best Electronic Act, after it was recently revealed he'll play in Dubai for New Year's Eve

He may only be 19 years old but Martin Garrix is ending the year on a big high. Not only has been announced as the headline act at Meydan’s New Year’s Eve event but the music star has just been named the Best Electronic Act at the MTV Europe Music Awards.

Garrix took home the gong on Sunday night when he attended the ceremony in Milan, and teamed up for pictures with Justin Bieber who he shares manager Scooter Braun with.

DJ Mag’s #3 Best DJ in the world claimed his music prize after playing a set with fellow Dutch DJ Afrojack, and fought off competition from Avicii, Calvin Harris, David Guetta, and Major Lazer to win the award on fan-votes.

The producer is perhaps best known for 2013 track ‘Animals’ and in 2014 released ‘Wizard’ and ‘Gold Skies’. His debut album is still on the way, however in the meantime he has been recognized in the Forbes’ ’30 under 30’ list as well as Billboard’s ’21 under 21’.

Signed to Spinnin’ Records , Garrix will be entertaining crowds in Dubai on December 31 for Dhs299 on General Admission or there’s the option of a Special Deluxe Ticket at Dhs750 (inclusive of unlimited food and beverages).

Early bird tickets and Deluxe packages are now available on until they sell out or November 1, whichever comes first. When doors will open at 6pm, and the show starts at 7.30pm, he’ll be competing against 42-year-old DJ David Guetta for the best NYE performance in the city. Guetta plays at Media City Amphitheatre on the last night of 2015.
