10 brilliant dance nights in Dubai this season

An immense roster of DJs are heading to Dubai this spring

Following new season line-up announcements from Zero Gravity and Blue Marlin Ibiza UAE, the next few months are set to be some of the best yet for international DJ talent. Here’s what you have to look forward to…

1 Max Vangeli

Back in 2011, MTV described the house music DJ as “one of the most promising artists” of the year. Since, he has gone on to release a debut album featuring collaborations with Steve Angello and Tiësto, his track Swedish Beauty was hailed by none other than Pete Tong as an “essential new tune” and played around the world from Sensation to Pacha Ibiza for the Masquerade Motel, alongside Swedish House Mafia. Head to Zero Gravity to hear remixes of chart-topping hits and tracks featuring his collaborations with the likes of Example and Tiësto.
Free before 7pm, Dhs150 thereafter. Fri Mar 17, noon-3am. Zero Gravity, Dubai Marina, www.platinumlist.net (04 399 0009).

2 Sven Väth

Also known as Papa Sven, Väth is no stranger to the super-clubs of Ibiza and is the man behind the famous clubbing concept Cocoon (he also set up the techno club of the same name in Frankfurt back in 2004). A big supporter of vinyl, he has also refused to play anything else in his sets for the whole of his 30-year career.
Free (reservations recommended). Fri Mar 24, 1pm-11pm. Blue Marlin Ibiza UAE, Golden Tulip Al Jazira Hotels And Resorts, Ghantoot (056 113 3400).

3 Maya Jane Coles and Green Velvet

The British-Japanese producer is unlike almost anyone else in the industry, writing, producing, engineering, mixing and performing every element of her music from start to finish, including tracks Burning Bright, Everything and Something in the Air. She’ll be playing live at Blue Marlin Ibiza UAE alongside techno singer, songwriter and producer Green Velvet, whose eclectic sound is interspersed with punk and inspired by music icons such as Prince.
Free (reservations recommended). Fri Mar 31, 1pm-11pm. Blue Marlin Ibiza UAE, Golden Tulip Al Jazira Hotels And Resorts, Ghantoot (056 113 3400).

4 One Big Friday with Gorgon City, Sigma and Sam Divine

Best known for their smash-hit remix of Kanye West’s Nobody to Love, as well as Changing featuring Paloma Faith, Sigma (pictured) will be back in the city for another set of huge drum ’n’ bass tunes. Also on the bill is British house and UK garage duo Gorgon City, whose track Ready for Your Love made it to No.4 in the UK Singles chart. Sam Divine, a regular on the festival circuit who has played at Creamfields and V Festival, as well as holding 12-week residences at Ushuaia, Amnesia and Sankeys Ibiza, is on the bill, too.
Free before 7pm, Dhs150 after. Fri Mar 31, noon-3am. Zero Gravity, Dubai Marina, www.platinumlist.net (04 399 0009).

5 Mambo Brothers

The Ibiza-born and raised Mambo Brothers will be in town for a Friday night themed on the Spanish party Island. The brothers have been influenced by everyone from Pete Tong to Jason Bye and have a vocal-tech house sound combined with trendy house tracks from Ibiza through the ages. They’ll be joined by producers and radio presenter Pete Gooding – of Café Mambo Ibiza – and deep tech house DJ Jon Ulysses.
Free before 7pm, Dhs150 after. Fri 7 April, noon-3am. Zero Gravity, Dubai Marina, www.platinumlist.com (04 399 0009).

6 DXBeach

The all-day beach party returns with a huge line-up of award-winning DJs. Head from poolside sunlounger to the dancefloor on the sand to see sets from Brit Awart-nominee Jonas Blue (pictured), live electronic duo GoldFish, saxophonist Lovely Laura and DJs Sonny Fodera, Josh Butler and Ben Santiago. Brunch kicks off at 1pm and runs until 5pm, so you can fill up on food to fuel up for another ten – yes ten – hours of dancing and DJ sets.
Dhs100 (early-bird), Dhs350 (with pool access), Dhs495 (brunch with house beverages). Fri April 14, noon-3am. Zero Gravity, Dubai Marina, www.platinumlist.net (04 399 0009).

7 Jax Jones

Famous for being featured on Duke Dumont’s number one single I Got U, which they co-wrote and produced, the British singer, songwriter and producer is also an awesome DJ in his own right. His funky, catchy new hit You Don’t Know Me – trust us, you’ve heard it – is currently still topping charts across the world.
Free before 7pm, Dhs150 thereafter. Fri Apr 21, noon-3am. Zero Gravity, Dubai Marina, www.platinumlist.net (04 399 0009).

8 Roger Sanchez and Claptone

Another huge one for Zero Gravity’s One Big Friday series, Roger Sanchez will be back at the decks spinning tracks such as his 2001 classic Another Chance. See him live alongside Claptone (pictured), whose enigmatic “birdman” persona and sound is notoriously difficult to pin down. His style of house music is totally unique, at times a little bit dark (look up his Halloween mix), and at others whimsical and uplifting.
Free before 7pm, Dhs150 thereafter. Fri Apr 28, noon-3am. Zero Gravity, Dubai Marina, www.platinumlist.net (04 399 0009).

9 Hannah Wants
Former professional football player turned DJ, Hannah Wants is an unexpected musical success. Regularly featured in Radio 1’s Essential Mixes and with appearances at the likes of Hideout Festival in Croatia, Exit in Serbia, Glastonbury in the UK and Creamfields and Amnesia in Ibiza, she has some serious credentials. Her biggest hits include Rhymes, which topped the UK charts in 2015.
Free before 7pm, Dhs150 thereafter. Fri May 12, noon-3am. Zero Gravity, Dubai Marina, www.platinumlist.net (04 399 0009).

10 One Big Friday with Martin Solveig

Solveig rose to fame with Hello, featuring Dragonette, and has become something of a household name in electronic music circuits. His biggest hits, including Hey Now and Intoxicated, have only confirmed his reputation as one of the best musicians around today.
Free before 7pm, Dhs150 thereafter. Fri May 19, noon-3am. Zero Gravity, Dubai Marina, www.platinumlist.net (04 399 0009).
