If you’ve loved this city and lived in it for some time, you’ll know that besides sweltering heat and the occasional burn from the metal bit of your seatbelt, there’s not always a huge amount to look forward to in August. Except those three special days when The Irish Village’s annual HopFest returns.
That giant, air-conditioned tent acts as a beacon to all who have long since become sick and tired of their summer sweat patches, and annually sees an impressive turnout, often having to implement a one in, one out policy on the door. Spurred on by the popularity on the well-established summer edition, The Irish Village has launched its very first Spring into HopFest, set to take place from Thursday April 13 to Saturday 15. In celebration of the cooler weather, the event will be spread across the gardens of the much-loved Garhoud pub and neighbouring Nomad Terrace at the Jumeirah Creekside Hotel.
Not only will there be more than 75 varieties of the region’s best-selling hops- and apple-based brews, the family-friendly weekend will also host a sizzling barbecue, live music and a play area complete with petting zoo and bouncy castle. There’s also space for energetic teens to play football and basketball. But the best bit?
It’s entirely free to get in. We’ll see you out in the sunshine.
Free. Thu Apr 13, from 6pm. Fri 14-Sat 15, from noon. The Irish Village, Garhoud, www.theirishvillage.com (04 239 5000).
