Karaoke in Dubai

Karaoke is making a comeback in Dubai. Let your inner superstar shine

Blind Dragon
One of the first in a new wave karaoke bars coming to the city, the original in LA is a celeb favourite. Sleeker than most karaoke lounges, the plush private rooms are yours for an entire evening with a minimum spend of Dhs300 per person.
Open Tue-Sat 5pm-2am. The Atrium, Al Habtoor City, Sheikh Zayed Road (04 437 0033).

Hibiki Karaoke Lounge
Show the whole room what you can do at Hibiki where the brave can take to the stage, though the resident singer Pocholo is a tough act to follow. Private rooms start at a Dhs1,000 minimum spend for ten, while other rooms can accommodate up to 25. An oldie but a goodie.
Open Mon-Sat 7.30pm-3am. Hyatt Regency Dubai, Deira (04 209 6914).

Hip-Hop Karaoke
Already a trend in cities such as New York and London, Hip-Hop Karaoke has landed in Dubai. Go head to head with some of the city’s best (and worst) amateur hip-hop artists (there are more than 800 tracks to choose from) or just turn up to cheer on the others. A ludicrously fun night out.
Free. Fri 8pm-3am. Ongoing. Tr!beca Kitchen + Bar, JA Ocean View Hotel, The Walk, JBR (050 345 6067).

Kung Korean Restaurant & Karaoke
A cult favourite, Kung has an almost unrivalled collection of tracks, serves platters of deep-fried snacks and has a casual atmosphere (you can literally scream the place down in there). Booths start at Dhs160 per hour for a room that fits nine.
Open daily 7pm-2am. Byblos Hotel, Barsha Heights (04 432 7966).

Lucky Voice
This is by far one of the coolest spots in the city, with bright, neon, retro décor, excellent music outside the private karaoke “pods” and more than 15,000 tracks on offer. The pods are pretty affordable, too, costing just Dhs50 per person for two hours in a room that accommodates 12 and Dhs100 in rooms that can accommodate from 15 to 25.
Open daily 4pm-3am. Grand Millennium Dubai, Barsha Heights (800 58259).

Miss Wang
Just opened, this industrial-urban restaurant and lounge is one of the coolest new spots in the city. Primarily an Asian fusion restaurant, head here for good food and live music before moving into the private karaoke room for free, as long as you’re a guest of the venue.
Open daily 6pm-3am. Majestic Hotel Tower, Mankhool Road, Bur Dubai (04 501 2567).
