Halloween parties in Dubai
Time Out has a list of some of the best Halloween parties in Dubai 2016, including drinks deals, gigs and fancy dress parties and more
Dominic Beesley's pick of a frightful 13 Halloween parties you won’t want to miss…
Cavalli is an institution on the Dubai nightlife scene, known for its glitzy parties, daring shows and lavish décor. This year the home of all things bold, brash and absolutely fabulous turns ten, so it’s only right to pop along and raise a glass.
It’s a swanky venue and guests dress accordingly, so make sure you dig out your gladrags for a night out here.
There’s opulent glamour throughout, from the massive crystal chandeliers down to the animal-print soft furnishings (and even that furry wall).
We recommend heading here after 11 as it doesn’t really get busy until later into the evening, but when it does fill up, it tends to get lively.
There are events nearly every night of the week including three courses for women on Tuesday ladies’ night (Dhs150) and special dinner shows on a Thursday evening.
It can a bit hit and miss though. At times it’s practically empty, meaning the vibe is lacking – but on other occasions it’s packed to the rafters.
Regardless of the numbers, you can expect something special on the dancefloor, with aerial hoop performances, silk dancers and glitter cannons.
If you’re up for a big night – and you’re after a show – then you can’t go wrong with Cavalli.
The bottom line
A famous club that’s worth a visit.
Ladies and gentlemen of Dubai – whether you’re a tourist, a recent expat or a well-rooted, long-term resident – if you’re looking to hit the beach by day, or party by night then Zero Gravity should be on your must list.
This is one of the city’s most perennially popular party destinations, which is why it’s our Best Beach Club for the second year running. At the weekend you can laze by the pool or brunch – at the Ritual Brunch on a Friday and Supernatural Saturdays, both of which come in at under Dhs300 for four hours of unlimited drinks and food, accompanied by some top beats. And the party ramps up later in the evening when DJs take to the stage.
Zero Gravity is more than just a weekend hangout though, and midweek is a massive draw for ladies’ across town thanks to its two consecutive ladies’ day offerings – on a Tuesday and a Wednesday – and a ladies’ night on Tuesday.
The beach club has also ramped up its efforts to put itself at the forefront of the nightlife scene. Early 2018 saw Rudimental, Fatboy Slim, Chase & Status, Judge Jules, Kungs and more all take the stage, and its every-so-often festival One Big Friday continues to rake in huge international acts.
So whether you’re chilling out in the temperature controlled, 39-metre, glass-fronted infinity pool, the Jacuzzi or down by the sea – you’ve got everything you need here. You’ll love it, trust us.
Burj Khalifa – check, city skyline – check, blooming shrubbery – you bet.
Treehouse is the type of place you should definitely take visitors. The view from the rooftop terrace is out of this world and showcases the city from its very best angle. At sundown it’s stunning, and when the buildings all light up it’s pretty special, too.
Once you peel your eyes away from the spectacle in the distance you can go on to appreciate the beauty of what surrounds you.
As you might expect from the name, Treehouse has taken the garden theme and given it the Alan Titchmarsh treatment. Fairy lights entwine the branches of strategically-placed trees, while lush foliage runs between low sofas and tables.
Dancing flames seem to move in time to the chilled-out electro music and the vibe is laid-back, yet strangely sort of enchanting.
Drinks come in on the pricey side, as you’d expect for the views, although there are a range of speciality mixed drinks that have been carefully thought out. There’s also a daily happy hour from 7pm until 10pm, which is worth heading to this Business Bay bar for.
We’re fans, and we reckon you will be too. What’s not to like?
The bottom line
A garden path we’d happily be led down.
If you’re looking for a laid-back pub with a friendly vibe and a spacious garden, look no further than Time Out Dubai’s 2018 Pub of the Year, The Irish Village.
The traditional pub at the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Stadium has been a longstanding Dubai institution for many a year – it turns 22 in 2018, in fact.
And its appeal is as enduring as it ever was. Despite a slew of young upstarts putting up fierce competition, this established Garhoud watering hole has firmly stood its ground.
With its rustic, dark wood interiors and sprawling patioed (and pet-friendly) garden, punters continue to pour in week after week for great-value pints of the black stuff and classic pub grub, from Irish stews, fish and chips and fry-ups, to hot and tasty toasties in a variety of forms.
Service is spot-on, and many of the staff have been familiar faces to regular drinkers and diners at the pub for several years. You’ll always get a warm welcome and you’re sure to stay longer than you expected, too.
With a front designed to look like an authentic village and a lush green lawn, it’s hard to beat this spot for a lazy afternoon in the sunshine. Don’t miss a trip to The Irish Village.
If you know it, you’ll love it.
The bottom line
A perfect place for a pint.
