Legendary rocker Carlos Santana is to play Dubai Jazz Festival next year.
It’s not his first time on the Jazz Fest stage, he returns to the emirate after a sell-out gig in 2014. Now the multiple Grammy winner and global guitar music icon will bring his fiery fusion of Latin rock, blues and world music back to the 14th edition of the Emirates Airline-sponsored event in February.
When the Mexican/American jets over for the occasion, Argentinian group La Bomba De Tiempo, an ensemble of 17 percussionists, will also take to the stage.
Santana and band first found fame in the late 60s and early 70s, but more recently made a mainstream comeback with hits such as ‘Maria Maria’, ‘The Game Of Love’ and ‘Smooth’ from 2007’s album Ultimate Santana.
Aside from the Dubai concert Santana is set for a string of dates at the House of Blues in Las Vegas from January until May.
Multi-Grammy-Award-winning US pop-rock band TOTO will headline the opening night of the festival, with support from Postmodern Jukebox.
Taking place from Wednesday February 24 to Friday 26, 2016 at the Dubai Media City Amphitheatre, the 14th edition of the festival is set to be bigger and better than ever.
Last year the likes of John Legend, Sting and James Blunt headlined.
Tickets are on sale from Wednesday November 18 at noon.
