Could two of the most popular hip-hop artists be coming to Dubai this year?
Wiz Khalifa and Chris Brown are both rumoured to be heading to the emirate, as early as next month, to perform big gigs.
Wiz – real name Cameron Thomaz – is reportedly planning a concert in March, with initial speculation suggesting it could potentially at Meydan, the same venue which hosted a massive New Year’s Eve celebration with headliner Martin Garrix last month. Lady Gaga has also performed there in the past 12 months.
The 28-year-old has been on the music scene for more than 10 years now with hits including Black and Yellow, We Dem Boyz and the Furious 7 soundtrack’s See You Again.
Wiz’s schedule certainly backs up the story by Ahlanlive.com, his tour dates show that January is a busy month for the American star who has gigs in Chile, Argentina and Brazil.
He last played here in May 2012 at Media City Amphitheatre.
A record company source also told Ahlan that Brown – currently promoting his album Royalty - is to finally visit the country around the same time.
The 26-year-old announced his One Hell Of A Night tour last August, spanning 25 US cities and featuring guest artists such as Kid Ink, Fetty Wap and Omarion.
Ayo hitmaker Brown was denied permission to enter Australia last October stemming from his guilty plea of assaulting fellow pop star Rihanna in 2009. He was sentenced to five years’ probation, ordered to complete a one-year domestic violence programme and given 180 days of community labour.
The RCA Records insider claims that the Brown deal is almost “100 per cent confirmed”.
