Zayn Malik concert in Dubai announced

Time Out has details of the Zayn Malik concert in Dubai announced for October 7, 2016. Get ticket information for his first solo show, plus tickets

A little over 18 months since his former bandmates pulled off what was the biggest-ever single concert held in Dubai, Zayn Malik will bring his one-man show to the Middle East.

Taking place at the Autism Rocks Arena on Friday October 7, the one-off show isn’t part of a world tour but instead a commitment from the It’s You singer to give his fans what they want.

His surprise exit from One Direction came just a matter of days before Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Liam Payne and Louis Tomlinson rocked Dubai, back in April 2015.

Since the split, Malik, who now goes simply by Zayn, has gone on to release a debut album to considerable acclaim, receiving four-star reviews from the vast majority of British and American media. Mind Of Mine went straight in at the top in the Billboard charts following its release on RCA Records in March this year, and has so far yielded a No. 1 smash for Pillowtalk.

This week, the second single Like I Would made a similar impact online, while a third track, Wrong, is due to drop in June.

Malik's live solo performances have so far been restricted to TV slots, making the Dubai show, which is being organised by 117Live and the same team behind the 1D gig, a significant milestone. “It seems like the show I have been waiting to announce for so long has finally happened,” 117Live CEO Thomas Ovesen said in a statement. “I know Zayn fans in the region share this sentiment 100 percent.”

The 23-year-old has distanced himself from the success he achieved as one-fifth of the biggest boy band in the world. In March he revealed he’d only spoken to Liam since leaving the group.

Pre-registration is available now at www.117live.com.
