Broadway hit Jersey Boys comes to Dubai Opera

The rock ’n’ roll musical will be showing in October

“If you’re from my neighbourhood, you got three ways out. You could join the army, you could get mobbed up. Or, you could become a star…”

So says Tommy DeVito in Jersey Boys, the Tony Award-winning musical that follows the rise of iconic ’60s rock ’n’ roll group Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons.

It’s an electrifying jukebox musical full of huge, nostalgic hits such as Can’t Take My Eyes Off You, Walk Like a Man and Bye Bye Baby. It tells the story of each member of the band and how they went from regular New Jersey guys to worldwide sensations.

Split into four parts – one for each season of the year – each part is narrated by a different member of the band, showcasing both the astronomical success of the group, and the tensions and struggles that lay behind their fame.

The show comes from the producers behind international tours including James and the Giant Peach and Seussical, and over the years, the musical has earned no fewer than 57 international awards. It scooped up the Best Musical Tony Award in 2006, as well as accolades for Best Performance by an Actor in a Musical, Best Lighting Design and the Laurence Olivier Award for Best New Musical in 2008. Others might know the story from the Clint Eastwood-directed film that was released in 2014 (pictured).

“The incredible ’60s sound of the legendary Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons is unmistakable and, as far as I’m concerned, utterly brilliant,” says Jasper Hope, Chief Executive of Dubai Opera. “If you’re a fan of jukebox musicals then do not miss this global smash hit Jersey Boys at the home of musical theatre in Dubai.”

Tickets are on sale from 9am, Sunday March 12.
