If the crystal chandeliers and waterfalls of the Cavalli Club could do with an added splash of chilled opulence, the opening of a not-so-secret secret jazz club is sure to do the trick.
The celebrity-laden club inspired by fashion icon Roberto Cavalli is reopening The Jazz Room. Cavalli closed the club back at the end of 2015 and after a major revamp will be open on Wednesdays and Thursdays here on out.
Keeping up with its glitzy and glamourous traditions, the jazz club has been described as giving a nod towards Hollywood’s Oscar darling La La Land – whatever that means. Abri and Funk will be the house band, one of the Middle East’s most prominent jazz collectives, which promises some funked up renditions of rock, blues and funk classics. Expect yourself to recognise Marley, Bowie and The Beatles covers.
Cavalli is known for its slightly exclusive vibe, and while entry to The Jazz Room is free, there is a minimum Dhs500 spend, giving you unlimited beverages for three hours. Could be worse, could be better.
The difficulty, though, is that the room doesn’t actually open until midnight. If you’re going to get value from your monkey of dirhams (that’s 500 btw), you’d better have some longevity in the wee hours.
Free entry, Dhs500 min spend. Wed & Thu ongoing, midnight-3am. Cavalli Club, dubai.cavalliclub.com (800 2282554)
