One of the leading lights of the UK stand-up comedy scene is heading to Dubai as part of the Laughter’s Factory’s Pop-Up comedy club at Media One Hotel on Wednesday July 12.
There’s a good chance that Ben Norris is one of the most acclaimed comedians you’ve never heard of. Frequent visitors to The Comedy Store in London will recognise Norris from his regular compere or headline performances, while his inimitable style has won him accolades from both national press – including Time Out London – and his fellow comedians. In recent years, The Guardian, Time Out, GQ and the Daily Mirror have all given Norris outstanding reviews for his effortlessly relatable, chatty-yet-witty comedy flair.
Ed Byrne, Jason Manford, Daniel Kitson and Frank Skinner are vocal fans of Norris’s comedy, while he gained more popularity after appearances on Mock the Week, Never Mind the Buzzcocks and, a little further back, They Think It’s All Over.
GQ even called him “the most polished stand-up you are likely to see,” which is some praise.
We can’t wait for his friendly, casual and yet striking observational comedy to come to Dubai this month. Oh, and here’s a fun fact: he’s Martin Freeman’s cousin.
Norris will be joined by Pierre Hollins, an intellectual, guitar wielding comedian who dispels the myth that all musical comedians are there for cheap laughs and not much else. Rich Wilson – comedy club barman-turned-comedian – will be completing the trio for a night that promises to be one of the top comedy events this year.
