One of the things that makes a city great is its live music scene. On top of the massive international artists visiting town this coming season, grassroots, local bands go a long way to making the daily nightlife scene tick.
In Dubai, we’ve got a number of local bands taking up residency at bars across the city. One of those is Carl and the Reda Mafia. The band is a mix of truly international musicians, and will be starting its residency at Blue Bar in Dubai World Trade Centre on Friday August 25 at 8pm.
The band formed in 2014 and stars Carl Frenais, the frontman who also found internet fame back in 2016 for his video mixing Indian harmonies and beat-boxing over the Siri iPhone app.
Debut album What The?! arrived soon after in February 2016, and followed some of the band’s biggest gigs so far, supporting Bon Jovi in Abu Dhabi in October 2015, and performing at Beats on The Beach, also in Abu Dhabi, a month later.
As well as residency at Blue Bar, the band will be supporting rock legends Uriah Heep at their Dubai gig at The Secret Garden in the Jumeirah Creekside Hotel on Friday November 10.
Carl and the Reda Mafia are one of Dubai’s best-known original bands, so make if you’re in the mood for a bit of live music, head to Blue Bar at Dubai World Trade Centre from 8pm on Friday August 25. There will even be special drinks promotions to mark the occasion, including a brand-new drink for the night available for Dhs25. Here’s something a little bit funky to get you in the mood:
