The next couple of months are going to have some amazing ’90s pop renaissance nights in town, and the latest one is a biggie. If it’s possible, this might actually be too good.
On top of Wow That’s What I Call Brunch returning for a second year in September, and bringing Atomic Kitten and Culture Beat with them, The Irish Village in Garhoud has announced a whopping-great night of ’90s pop fun coming on Friday October 20.
Remix 92 will be bringing a staggering NINE chart-topping acts from the UK to Dubai for one massive night of huge, huge hits. In what will be the first of a series of “Live on the Lake” gigs, the entire lake at The Irish Village will be covered to become a giant dancefloor, with views of the stage available from both The Irish Village and the nearby Jumeirah Creekside Hotel’s lawn and terrace.
Leading the line-up for the day/night festival is 5ive, who will be bringing massive hits like Everybody Get Up, Keep on Moving and Got the Feeling. The band sold more than 20 million records worldwide in their heyday, with 11 top ten singles and four top ten albums. Remember this classic?
5ive will be joined by Boyzlife. Boyzlife is what you get when two massive Irish pop bands (Westlife and Boyzone) merge to form a mega band of epic pop proportions. Expect renditions of hits No Matter What, Flying Without Wings, Love Me For A Reason and loads more.
Going back earlier into the ’90s, other acts on the line-up include Dr Alban – known for It’s My Life – who is actually a real-life doctor and sold more than a million copies of his debut album worldwide, as well as Robin S (known for the timeless club classic Show Me Love), and Snap!, known for dance megahit Rhythm is a Dancer, and even more mega megahit The Power.
But the epic 1990s hits don’t stop there, with Rozalla also joining the bill, and bringing Everybody’s Free to the UAE.
N-Trance, known for huge remix of the Bee Gees’ hit Stayin’ Alive, and C+C Music Factory almost complete the line-up, with the latter bringing legendary dance smash hit Gonna Make You Sweat (Everybody Dance Now).
Finishing the line-up, and by no means bottom of the bill, is Sonique, who smashed the UK dance scene to pieces in 2000 when she dropped huge club hit It Feels So Good, which topped the UK charts for three weeks and went on to be the third best-selling single of the year after spending 14 weeks in the top 40.
Honestly, we don’t know how there’s even room to fit so many massive tunes on one stage in one night, but we absolutely cannot wait. DJ Tim Cheddar and guest will be providing solid dance tunes from the decade throughout the day, to boot.
