Daliso Chaponda, the UK-based Malawian comedian who shot to fame on Britain’s Got Talent, is coming to the UAE this month, as part of The Laughter Factory’s late-September line-up – with four shows taking place between Wednesday September 27 and Friday 29.
The comedian auditioned for the UK’s televised talent contest earlier this year, and was fast-tracked through to the final stage after impressing judge Amanda Holden so much in his first trial.
Chaponda’s unapologetic comedy style, which teeters on the edge of good taste, won him instant accolades. So much so that since his first appearance on British TV earlier this year, he’s had more than 50 million hits on YouTube, and his professional comedy career has taken off. Chaponda is preparing to undertake a tour of the UK in 2018, with many venues already sold out and adding more dates. He’s also currently writing a new sitcom for BBC Radio 4, in which he’ll star.
You can see his famed TV appearance below.
Chaponda will be joined by Paul Tonkinson, a British comedian who’s been around the block and heralded by Michael McIntyre as one of the greatest comics around. Tonkinson builds his set on skilful impressions, exuberant reflections on family life and the day-to-day idiosyncrasies of 21st century life.
A seasoned vet, Tonkinson has embarked on his own solo tours across the UK, and joined Michael McIntyre as a special guest on his global arena tour in 2013, performing in front of millions of fans around the world, and again in 2015 as a guest on McIntyre’s UK tour.
Completing the bill is self-deprecating Canadian Peter White, who has toured North America and recently relocated to the UK. He’s regularly appeared at The Comedy Store, which included a televised appearance of Comedy Store Live. White now tours the UK and Europe, and has been voted one of the top five comics in Canada.
The show will start in at the Hilton Al Ain on Wednesday September 27, before heading to Hilton Al Hamra Beach & Golf Resort on Thursday 28. The quick-fire tour of the UAE will finish in Dubai with two shows on Friday September 29 – there will be a 7pm show at the Hilton Dubai Jumeirah Beach, followed by a 9pm show at DoubleTree by Hilton Dubai Business Bay.
Tickets are available now at www.thelaughterfactory.com, priced at Dhs140.
