Huge night of classic pop and rock coming to Dubai

Live on the Lake returns for second gig at The Irish Village on October 26

Following up on the mega night of ’90s acts and tunes coming to Dubai in October, the second instalment of Live on the Lake is ready and raring to go.

It was announced last month that a huge night of massive throwback hits is coming to The Irish Village on Friday October 20, featuring some of the biggest artists of the 1990s, including 5ive, Boyzlife (Boyzone and Westlife), Sonique, Snap!, N-Trance and more.

While we were getting our heads around the scale of so many awesome acts in one place at the same time, The Irish Village has thrown another dose of Live on the Lake at us, with a second mega night of throwback tunes landing on Thursday October 26.

This time, legendary pop rock band The Pretenders are heading to town, bringing classic hits Brass in Pocket and Back on the Chain Gang. The band’s founder, Chrissie Hynde recently announced the band is back for a 2017 tour to promote new album, Alone, and October’s Dubai visit will come off the back of a 14-night UK tour.

Here’s one of The Pretenders’ biggest tunes, Brass in Pocket, to get you in the mood, from all the way back in 1979.

Or how about this one?

Joining The Pretenders is lead singer of ’90s pop sensation M People, Heather Small. With classic hits such as Moving On Up, Search For The Hero and Proud, Small will bringing some feel good tunes to Dubai.

Completing the line-up for this triple header is Aswad, the UK-based reggae and dub group responsible for massive tunes including Don’t Turn Around…

… and this absolute classic.

Tickets for the night, for which doors open at 5pm before the show starts at 8:45, start at Dhs195 for early bird tickets, Dhs225 for regular tickets, and Dhs495 for an 8pm until 11pm evening brunch on the Nomad Terrace at Jumeirah Creekside Hotel, overlooking the stage.
