Huge night of team games at McGettigan’s JLT

The Thirsty Games include Human Hungry Hippos and giant Twister on September 28

It’s back to school time and if your days have recently become busy teaching, or school-running, or even if you just fancy getting out for the night, McGettigan’s has launched a new night promising to be the tonic for your ails.

McGettigan’s JLT will host the Irish pub equivalent of playground games, with a one-off special event coming to town at the end of September. Head to The Thirsty Games on Thursday September 28, a free event open to all, but one where teachers get special privileges, including 75 percent off house drinks from 4pm until 7pm, followed by 25 percent off all drinks when showing staff ID or Teacher Social card.

The games begin in teams (of at least two) with seated games like Hangman, Scrabble, Pictionary et al. The four top scoring teams will make it through to the interactive round featuring the intriguingly named Human Hungry Hippo – in which one player lies on a skateboard, being pushed around by their teammate in an attempt to grab as many items as possible in the time allowed. We suspect it might look something like this:

Other games include giant Twister, Connect Four, an egg and spoon race, relay races, balloon popping competitions and more. Winners of each round will win drinks for their team, so swot up, get some practise in and head down to The Baggot from 8pm until 3am.

Thu Sep 28 8pm-3am. The Baggot, McGettigan’s JLT, Bonnington Hotel, Cluster J, Jumeirah Lakes Towers (04 378 0800).

If you’re on the lookout for special, teacher-friendly nights, don’t miss these brilliant deals at three Dubai bars, plus one trampoline park, tonight (Tuesday September 19).
