Dubai’s The Irish Village is about to celebrate its 21st birthday, and that means there’s cause for a right old shindig, in case one were needed.
The Garhoud institution was voted World Wide Irish Pub of the Year in 2016, so a soirée of epic proportions is in store on Thursday November 2.
Head down to celebrate the occasion, where one of the city’s favourite local bands, The Maplejacks, will be performing live, as will DJ Marky Mark who’ll be spinning hits from the last 21 years. Drinks will be available for Dhs25 all day long, and entry is completely free.
If you’re a music fan, you’ll also have the opportunity to win some special prizes. Signed guitars will be up for grabs from artists who have performed at The Irish Village and the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Stadium over the last year. This year has seen artists including New Order, The Lightning Seeds and UB40 gracing the stage, while Ocean Colour Scene and Texas are also confirmed to perform later this year.
The idea of The Irish Village was born after the construction of the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Stadium in 1995, and the need for a permanent outlet to cater to the visitors of different events. Thus, in 1996, The Irish Village opened its doors, and has been responsible for some of the biggest nights the city has seen in recent years.
Its 21st birthday is likely to be another one, and you won’t want to miss out.
Free entry. Thu Nov 2 11am-2am. Dubai Duty Free Tennis Stadium, Garhoud (04 282 4750).
