The Commitments lead singer coming to Dubai

Free gig at The Irish Village with legendary fictional Irish band's singer

Fans of The Commitments will be made up by the news that one of its biggest stars, Andrew Strong, is coming to Dubai for a free (yes, free) gig at The Irish Village in November.

Strong starred as Deco Cuffe in cult Irish comedy drama, which followed the story of Jimmy Rabbitte and a young group of working class musicians which forms a soul band named, The Commitments. Cuffe was the lead singer of the Dublin-based group, who was known for some of his stunning vocal performances on massive tracks including Try A Little Tenderness, Mustang Sally and In The Midnight Hour.

Strong went on to tour with the likes of The Rolling Stones, Lenny Kravitz, Prince, Sir Elton John (who is one of the many massive acts coming to Dubai this winter), as well as Brian Adams, who also performed in Dubai earlier this year.

Expect to hear many of the biggest The Commitments tunes, like this classic…

…and this one.

So, if you’re looking for a night of classic soul tunes fronted by one of the legendary on-screen frontmen, this absolutely free gig is promising to be a highlight, and one you absolutely do not want to miss. The music starts at 9.30, so don’t miss out.

The break will last from Monday August 20 until Wednesday August 22

Eid is expected to fall on Tuesday August 21 and run until Friday August 24
