There’s big news for fans of US singer Gwen Stefani. The No Doubt star is coming to town next month.
Stefani will be performing an intimate gig on Monday December 4 at the Renaissance Downtown Hotel, to celebrate the venue’s grand opening.
The global star will be doing a special set – although the tickets are limited to VIP packages for members of the hotel group’s loyalty scheme.
“The spectacular new Renaissance Downtown Hotel, Dubai is theatrical, unexpected and sets the stage for discovering Dubai’s newest neighborhood,” said Brian Povinelli, senior vice president and global brand leader, Renaissance Hotels.
“With its bold, artful design, vibrant global dining scene and engaging experiences around every corner, the hotel embraces a spirit that inspires guests to discover something wonderfully new every time they travel.”
The hotel has 298 guest rooms, including 65 suites, as well as several exciting new dining options.
These include the first UAE outpost of chef Masaharu Morimoto’s famed, eponymous restaurant, which is due to open in December, while chef David Myers’ Bleu Blanc and BASTA! are now open.
The first of Myers’ eateries, Bleu Blanc, is based upon a southern French farmhouse, with a central wood-fired grill, while BASTA! is aimed at recreating a traditional Roman trattoria, Florentine steakhouse and Neapolitan pizzeria.
Morimoto’s restaurant will mix traditional Japanese techniques with Western twists and the restaurant’s expansive space will include three private dining rooms and terraces with undisturbed views of the Burj Khalifa.
BHAR, the Arabic word for spice, will serve up Middle Eastern cuisine, while there will also be a coffee shop, Grounded.
In December, the hotel will also open a first-of-its-kind, all-suite spa concept from the renowned Six Senses brand.
Entertainment is key, and Stefani is set to become the first of a series of events run by the hotel.
"We are thrilled to mark this milestone for Renaissance Hotels by bringing this concert series to the Middle East region for the first time,” said Alex Kyriakidis, president and managing director Middle East and Africa, Marriott International.
“Gwen Stefani has an extremely passionate fanbase worldwide and we’re delighted to provide intimate access and exclusive opportunities for our most loyal members and customers. With the spontaneity of Renaissance, we are confident this hotel will emerge as the newest lifestyle destination for global travellers as well as local residents.”
Members of Marriott’s loyalty programmes, Marriott Rewards, which includes The Ritz-Carlton Rewards and Starwood Preferred Guest, are able to redeem their points for the Ultimate Fan Experience packages around the concert.
