Montreux Comedy Festival is returning for its third annual visit to Dubai in 2018, with Mainland Europe’s largest comedy bash set to take over the Madinat Jumeirah in February and March.
The Swiss festival will take place from Wednesday February 28 until Friday March 2 next year, and the team behind it say it will be building upon its reputation “for delivering sharp and intellectual stand-up that embraces humour as a universal language”.
In short, get ready for three days of top international comics, while plans for its first-ever Arabic gala have also been revealed.
“When we first established Montreux Comedy, we did so with the aim of bringing comedians and audiences together to share an experience that illuminate people’s lives and put smiles on faces,” said Grégoire Furrer, founder and director at Montreux Comedy. “I’m pleased to say that we’ve achieved both, but our work is not finished and we are excited to be returning to Dubai with a fresh line-up that promises to have audiences laughing from start to finish”.
Having debuted at the Swiss event in November just gone, Dubai-based comic Ali Al Sayed has already confirmed that he’ll be performing at the UAE event in February. Sayed currently runs a comedy school which has fostered the development of more than 1,000 comedy students.
“Montreux Comedy has proven adept at helping emerging talent to make a name for themselves, while providing invaluable experience, and I see great potential for the festival to have a similar effect on young people in Dubai,” he said.
